Invocation 2010 took place at St. Mary’s College, Oscott from 2 – 4th
July. It was the first national discernment weekend for young people aged
between 16-35 considering the religious life or priesthood. Over 400 people
attended the weekend including religious, diocesan priests, seminarians and
those discerning. People travelled from far and wide including two young women
I met who had travelled from Holland for the event.

Dr. Andrew O’Connell’s talk was entitled “Standing out from the crowd: challenging the culture”. He talked about the role of the church in our modern society, saying it must “knock on the cocoon”, challenge the culture, question and look to the stars. Sr. Gabriel’s talk was about life in community and she posed the question “What can I be for God?”
