Sisters of St Paul the Apostle started the school in 1889. In 1979 Sr Raphael from the Sisters of Mercy in Alnwick was asked if any of their sisters could take over running the school. Sr Anna applied, and was given the job. She has been at the school since, having taught two and three generations of some families.
