Bermondsey Convent has always been a house where Community Archives have been treasured and preserved because Catherine McAuley and Mother Clare Moore, our Foundress, impressed on the Sisters the importance of keeping good records of the journey of service of the Community.

Since 1985 Bermondsey has housed the Archives for the Institute of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, and this is still one of the main functions of the house.   Lately, several additions/alterations have been made here to make our Mercy story and in particular the history of this house, available to the wider public - to the many international visitors who come here, to our parishioners here in Dockhead and to the children in our local schools.  We hope this will be an inspiring, interesting and informative place to visit.
