London - Poplar

The Story of the House and its Sisters

The Institute/Union Formation House in Poplar was founded in February 1994 in response to their respective Chapters calling the members to work collaboratively in initial formation and explore together their Charism of Mercy both personally and corporately. Five women engaged in the formation process over a four year period at different stages and three of the women went forward to make First Profession.

In September 1998 Poplar ceased to be a joint formation house and saw itself developing and identifying as a collaborative community with the membership sharing their gifts, resources, ministry, prayer, friendships and also becoming a house of hospitality in East London. The Poplar community has and continues to experience and explore the meaning of Mercy together particularly by reaching out to those in need.
